Friday, Jason and I went down to Old Town Leesburg for First Friday. Unfortunately, we got rolling late so all we really had time for was to get dinner. We settled on the Georgetown Cafe and Bakery, which, despite its Yelp reviews, I've always found tasty. Sure, it's a little more expensive, but when you go to Old Town Leesburg, you have to be prepared to pay the small business markup. </soapbox>
After dinner, Jason was VERY excited to see that Chris Cooley was making an appearance at The Cooley Gallery that evening. We stopped in and waited a few minutes to see if we could get a chance to chat wit him and get a picture, but it being First Friday there were a lot of other people around and so we decided to try meeting him another time. Even so we were running a little late to our next adventure...
At 9, we met a bunch of friends for bowling down the road. It being my third time out bowling since I was a little kid, I did pretty well -- my highest score was a 95, but my worst game (of 3) was a 72, which was about how well I did my first game as of late. I've decided if I ever joined a league, my nickname would be "Niner" since I kept getting nines! The biggest surprise of the evening was a coworker-friend of mine who hadn't been out bowling since college. At some point he turned to me and kind of shrugged off a bad round, saying something to the effect of "Eh, I guess I'm a little rusty..." and he was beating the pants off the rest of us, rounding out the game with a 185! Rusty my ass... After bowling, most of us went over to King's Court Tavern for adult beverages and funny stories before heading home about 1:30 AM. Latest we've been out in a long time!
Saturday was far less eventful. Spent the morning cleaning up the house and doing chores, then met with a potential wedding planner to help us nail down some of the big things for our upcoming wedding. She was ok; I kind of like the first lady I talked to better. Evening was spent doing errands, couple episodes of stuff on tv, and turning in later than we should have.
Today was another adventurous day... Morning of cleaning up, then off to shop for dresses for Jason's office's holiday party next weekend with my dear friend Samm (Samantha). Found one dress for the office or possibly a more casual holiday party, then two candidates for Jason's party, plus some dress shoes for work. Best part? I got one dress for practically half off since someone had accidentally put it in the clearance racks! Score. Perhaps I'll post pics later.
And now it's Sunday evening already! With everything going on here at home and at work (deadline looming, office move Friday), I could really use some more weekends for just relaxing. I'm currently nursing a sore throat and trying to figure out why I feel so cold in a perfectly normal-temperature house... I better not be getting sick!
