Well this is a super-belated post...
Friday, I was feeling much improved from my illness earlier this week. Although my throat was still a little bit sore and I hate a major post-nasal-drip cough, I wasn't as tired as I had been. As a result, I ended up staying a few hours extra at work to help with the move. My organizational skills and head for logistics turned out to be rather handy, as the office movers hadn't prepared as well as they could have, so I helped their supervisor get some things ready, took care of random tasks for the partners who were monitoring the move, and tried to keep things organized and running smoothly.
After finally returning home, I admitted that despite the remnants of my illness and the long day at work, I wasn't yet tired, so Jason and I rounded up some friends for another evening of bowling! Good, cheap fun. Unfortunately, I think I pushed myself a little too hard and talked too much. By the end of the evening, I had an irritated throat again and ad a hard time getting settled for bed -- the latter half of this illness has included a really bad cough and congestion waking me up 5-6 times a night. :(
Saturday morning it took me a couple hours to get back up to "normal" (lots of coughing, medication, nose-blowing, Ricola, etc.), but I finally felt okay by mid-morning. We took care of some things around the house and some short errands nearby, before getting ready for Jason's office's holiday party. This year it was held at Hotel Monaco in downtown DC. They had really great hors d'oeuvres; I ate many many many mini crabcake balls and California rolls. I also spent much of my evening laughing with Jason's coworkers' wives and critiquing the terrible DJ. (He would play Rat Pack music and get a dozen couples on the dance floor, then go back to playing club crap that got maybe three people on the dance floor. Uhm. Know your audience, dude; this isn't a prom.) All in all though, it was a fun evening... despite the fact that I took a step back healing-wise again...
Sunday, we slept in REALLY late (like 10 AM) and groggily hit up Starbucks and Trader Joe's. I think we spent the majority of the rest of the day watching TV since we were so tired from sleeping in. (I've always wondered how I can sleep more than usual and still feel exhausted...) Then in the evening we put on Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas (for the second time this season) while we tried to do a little Christmas decorating. We didn't get far before the evening devolved into more tv-watching and an early bedtime.
So, it was a long and fun-busy weekend, but I probably should have taken it easy Friday night so as to be better healed up for Saturday, but at least this illness is finally clearing up.
